June 12 is history.
It is not just a day comprising twenty four hours like the rest of the days in the calendar. It is a symbol.
A day the masses in a process adjudged free and fair voted for a preferred candidate but their dreams were dashed by anti-democratic forces.
This is the summation of liberal struggles for democracy in our chequered history.
It transcends beyond the gladiators of that Era. It is a day we need to pause and ask ourselves if we have achieved the ideals of democracy several years down the line.
Regrettably we have had drawbacks but we have made progress too. We most importantly have the power to decide.
This is the greatest power!
It is hoped that in no distant time we will get it right.
