NBA President laments the increased killing of Lawyers and Proliferation of Arms

Barely a week ago, precisely on Sunday, 04 November 2018, hoodlums rained bullet shots at the car of the past Chairman of Auchi Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (“NBA”), Mr. A A Atemoagbo, along Auchi-Benin Road, near Ehor, in Edo State, in an attempt to halt him. Mr. Atemoagbo survived the attack, albeit with injuries and greatly traumatized, but not so, his wife, Joan, who was killed by the assassins’ bullets. Mr. Atemoagbo was returning from a Convention of the Jehovah’s Witnesses that held in Benin and, in his Honda CRV car were his wife, their young child and one other passenger.  Mr. Atemoagbo’s car was indeed stopped by the hoodlums and he was kidnapped and only released days later after the payment of the specified ransom amount.

NBA Election verification: Many unanswered questions put the election in a muddy spotlight

Africa’s biggest bar association is going through one of its biggest challenges in 26 years with its seeming difficulty to effect a smooth transition of power.The past two weeks have been turbulent with allegations and counter allegations towards the credibility of the election which caused  the bar association to hurriedly employ another ICT partner to help with the process. Unfortunately, the  new state of affairs have brought more gloom, dissatisfaction and mistrust towards the process especially the process of verification. NBA statement on the Benue killings is a monumental disgrace-Elvis Okugbo

A senior Lawyer Elvis Okugbo has described the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Press statement on the gruesome killing in Benue by herdsmen as a monumental disgrace.In his statement below he stated
“I am shocked by the patronizing language of this press statement by the A. B. Mahmoud led NBA National Exco….! It would have been better they said nothing as this none commital statement, is, to say the least, a monumental disgrace to an august body in the mold of the NBA!!
