The Nigerian Military has declared that it will provide the minimum necessary force to support the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies to checkmate the activities of criminals who terrorise citizens, who are observing the lockdown directive.

Speaking in Abuja during a press briefing, Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche said criminals will be tackled appropriately in line with the principles of internal security operations and rules of engagement to ensure the security of lives and property of the citizens.

He urged the public to provide credible information to law enforcement agents on criminal activities in their neighbourhood hence the Public should not panic if increased military presence is noticed in the public domain. He said that the military has provided two military laboratories in Abuja and Lagos State in the bid to support Federal Government to carry out test for Coronavirus.

Enenche to said the entire Nigerian military formations has covered the six geopolitical zones with 21 designated isolation centers adding that the 80 trained medical personnel were already deployed to the various formations for engagement.

Enenche said efforts to curb crude oil thefts and protect economic assets yielded positive results as about 65,000ltrs of illegally refined AGO and 943.5 barrels of suspected stolen crude oil were impounded from oil thieves.
