Many Lawyers consider the improvement of the welfare of lawyers as the most important duty of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) yet over the years it seem like the association has done little or nothing in that regard. As the NBA election comes closer,Usman  Joshua Enemali through his manifesto has given lawyers expectations that a good plan could be in place after all.

Among all his plans, the soft loan idea and the ensuring a rewarding Pro bono scheme for young lawyers have excited the young lawyers the most many of whom are mobilising to put him in charge of their welfare in the next two years.

Usman Joshua Enemali in his manifesto stated:

“It is my intention to propose a Soft Loan Scheme from a welfare pool of the Association aimed at alleviating the financial predicament of our members.

To encourage the idea of partnership among our dear members (to set up and equip their offices) and to propose modalities in accessing fund from the Association’s pool and as well devise workable measures in the refund of same.

I shall propose that certain number of young lawyers across the branches of the Nigerian Bar Association be sponsored to the National Conference and all NEC meetings. This invariably would not only create a sense of belonging but as will foster proper understanding of the modus operandi of our reputable Association.

I intend to propose an e-payment platform for Payment of Annual Practicing Fees wherein members can pay from the comfort of their homes and offices.

Reduction in payment of Annual General Conferences and introduction of a better insurance cover/access to Medical Care upon payment of Bar Practicing Fees

Harmonious Relationship between Lawyers and Security Agents.

Ensuring a rewarding Probono scheme for young lawyers.

Introduction of biometrics to the Stamp and Seal to further curb unlawfully and illegal practice by non-lawyers.
