Mrs Oluyede,one of Nigeria;s top female lawyers celebrates her birthday today amidst wishes coming in from around the globe.
Olufunmi Oluyede, whose formative years and early education was in London, England, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986. She is one of the co- founding/pioneer partners of TRLPLAW (a consortium of international commercial lawyers and arbitrators) operating out of three offices in Nigeria and affiliate offices in the United Kingdom and the United States. Mrs. Oluyede coordinates the Alternative Dispute Resolution and International Commercial Transactions Unit of the firm –including foreign joint venture/partnership arrangements, business formation, negotiations and dispute resolution. She is involved in high profile arbitral and mediation proceedings locally and internationally on behalf of major banking institutions and corporate organizations.
Mrs. Oluyede, immediate past Chair of the International Bar Association (IBA) African Regional forum has held various offices in widely acclaimed meritorious service of the forum over the years. She currently serves as member of Council of the IBA LPD and is the Council Representative to the African Regional Forum. Moreover, she was appointed Chair of the newly inaugurated IBA Crimes Against Women Subcommittee recently.
As a prominent member of the American Bar Association (ABA) SIL and the Nigerian Bar Association, Olufunmi initiated and fervently facilitated the emergence of the existing Memorandum of Cooperation between the Nigerian Bar Association and the American Bar Association SIL in 2008. She has since held various offices in both organizations and at present serves as ABA SIL Deputy Diversity officer and chair of both its United Nations & International Organizations Committee and Women’s Interest Network.
Mrs Oluyede is member, National Executive Council of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria and a life member of the Association.
She serves all these organizations assiduously, productively and most laudably -with various well-deserved, lustrous, global awards in acknowledgement thereof.
