Two fake corps members who claimed to have graduated from the Imo State University have been arrested in Nasarawa State.
The suspects are Njoku Chidi, 24 and Winifred Ahamefula, 25.
The spokesman of the Nasarawa State Police Command, ASP Rahman Nansel, confirmed to Daily Trust that they will charge them to court for prosecution in Lafia after investigations.
NYSC Coordinator in Nasarawa State, Mrs Ramatu Sanda, told newsmen at the Dan Yamusa Orientation Camp in Keffi Local Government Area of the state on Monday shortly after the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise that the NYSC also apprehended some persons parading themselves as prospective corps members during the 2019 Batch B Stream II orientation exercise, and handed them over to the police for further investigation.
“They told us that they still had some carry over courses but felt they could escape it. That is why they paid some individuals certain amount of money to clear them for the service. We have decamped them and handed them over to the police for further investigation. They are no longer our corps members,” she said.
Mrs Sanda said the NYSC in the state received a tip off on the said individuals from the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim and immediately made efforts to apprehend them.
