A woman who tried to open the door of a passenger plane midway through a flight from Stansted Airport has been jailed.
Chloe Haines, 26, was sentence to two years in prison at Chelmsford Crown Court for endangering the safety of an aircraft and assaulting a member of the cabin crew.
Haines was sent an £85,000 bill by the airline in July last year after they accused her of a “catalogue of aggressive, abusive and dangerous behaviour” on a flight bound for Dalaman in Turkey.
She was said to have been restrained by both crew and customers.
Two RAF jets had to be scrambled to escort the passenger plane back to Stansted.
Haines was then arrested by Essex Police upon landing on suspicion of assault, criminal damage and endangering an aircraft.
