The chairperson of the Abuja (Unity) Branch, Dr. Hauwa E. Shekarau passed on this morning. The sad news of her passing was disclosed in a notice signed by the secretary of the Branch, Prince Adebisi Adetosoye; it read in part:
“NOTICE OF THE DEMISE OF OUR CHAIRMAN DR HAUWA E SHEKARAU
It is with a sad heart and the highest sense of loss that I announce the death of our chairman who passed away this morning, 15 September, 2021 after a brief illness.I will give further details as to the arrangements and burial plans later.“
The Branch has sent their condolences to her family and promised to communicate burial arrangements to be decided by the family.
The publicity secretary of the Branch, also notified members that a condolence register has been opened at the branch secretariat located at flat 2, Block 16, FCDA Quarters, Kashim Ibrahim Way, off Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja.
FIDA has sent their condolences to her family and Branch. Hauwa Shekarau was National President of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria) between 2012 and 2015. Various members of the Bar have also sent their condolences.
