The Uganda Law Society today began the activities marking its 60 years of Existence.
Sixty years ago, on 27th of December 1956 Uganda Law Society came into existence by an Act of Parliament.
As the event which is being covered real time by courtroom mail began,the President of Uganda Law Society Grancis Gimara Paid tributes to men & women who have worked tirelessly to make the society since 1956.
He enjoined members to provide ethical legal service and Stand up on issues of Corruption pointing out also that the society can use its numbers to enhance member benefits.He appealed to ULS is to ensure that discipline of Lawyers is maintained, so as to achieve our dream of being a vibrant profession
Justice Kasule urged lawyers to change their attitude and practice not only in towns but in rural areas saying that Clients will always look for a great Lawyer wherever they are.
Aloysius Lisga shared a story of the difficulty of serving on the bench during the time of Idi Amin while Elly Karuhanga provided his perspective of the difficulty of practicing under Idi Amin.
The series of events commenced with a launch at the ULS Garden at 2pm under the theme -Celebrating our story-Rekindle Ethical Practice.
