Funkola Odeleye is Co-founder/CEO of DIYLaw – a legal technology company focused on providing automated, accessible and affordable legal services to Nigerian-based entrepreneurs and she will be speaking at the 14th Edition of the SPA Ajibade & Co. Annual Business Luncheon (#SPAACOABL2021) which holds on the 9th of December, 2021.
Funkola as she is fondly called by close friends and associates is a lawyer and entrepreneur with experience spanning several spectrums of corporate/commercial law practice including, as a private practitioner, as in-house counsel in investment banking, capital markets, investment advisory, compliance and securities as well as entrepreneurship. She is a graduate of the Lagos State University (LASU) as well as the Nigerian Law School; and holds a Masters’ degree in Finance and Financial Law from the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London.
At DIYLaw, Funkola leads strategy, operations as well as business development; and beyond her role at DIYLaw, she leads the Corporate/Commercial and Intellectual Property department at The Longe Practice, a law firm which she co- founded in 2015. Prior to these roles, she worked with FBN Capital, Cordros Capital and George Ikoli & Okagbue where she offered unique value in her roles across compliance and corporate/commercial service offerings.
Funkola was the 2019 Sub-Saharan winner and Global Finalist of the Entrepreneurial Award of the British Council Study UK Alumni Award. She is a 2019 Africa 35.35 Laureate, a 2019 Obama Africa Leader; an Innovating Justice Fellow of The Hague Institute for the Innovation of Law (HiiL) and has been named as one of Nigeria’s 100 Most Innovative Persons in Technology. She also believes in social responsibility; is a Cherie Blair Foundation Mentor and is passionate about mentoring and developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Nigeria.
Funkola will share her experience as well speak on ”the hows, whys, why-nots and future of automating law practice in Nigeria” at the SPA Ajibade & Co. Annual Business Luncheon (#SPAACOABL2021), themed, “Technology, Innovation and the Law: Challenges, Potentials and Possibilities in the Nigerian Legal Landscape”.
