A true leader is always ready and available to meet and consult with the people no matter the circumstances or location. This is the hallmark of leadership as a leader must be ready to brave the odds to reach out to the people, only then can he understand their challenges and make conscious efforts to solve them.
Thus, I was happy when Dr. Babatunde Ajibade SAN, attended our Law week in Maiduguri despite the well-known security challenges facing the City. The Learned SAN is humility personified. He participated practically in all the event programs and shared his vast knowledge on Litigation, Arbitration, Commercial transaction and international Law with us.
Unlike other presidential hopefuls that sat back in their cozy offices to send felicitation messages on social media and only visit branches they consider safe and popular, Dr. Ajibade made himself at home with us in Maiduguri and easily won our hearts with his charming smiles. His courage in visiting us in our dire moments will not be forgotten as the Maiduguri and Biu branches have assured him of their total support in his quest to get the Bar to do better for a united course.
To further buttress his candor and solidarity with us, the Learned Silk was up and running early in the morning to participate in our Endurance Trek around the city of Maiduguri only a night after an attack by the Boko Haram Group. Looking fit and trendy in his sports attire, Dr. Ajibade led the hour-long walk around the city as we all defiled the terror group’s attempt to intimidate us.
I have seen enough good leadership qualities in Dr. Ajibade and I will stand with him for a United Bar.
