PRISON DECONGESTION: TOTAL NIGERIA DONATES ONE MILLION NAIRA TO NBA IKORODU BRANCH
Total Nigeria yesterday donated the sum of One Million Naira to the Ikorodu Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association. The grant highlights the company’s support for the Free Legal Clinic Initiative of the branch under the leadership of Mr. Adebayo Akinlade.
Remarkably, the branch, through its Pro Bono Committee headed by Mrs. Odunola Jegede has successfully secured the release of over 70 indigent inmates in the last four months. The Pro Bono Committee is accessible to the public at the Ikorodu High Court premises every Thursday. The Committee provides free and quality legal services to indigent members of the public.
Reacting to the kind gesture of Total Nigeria, Mr. Akinlade commended the company for identifying with the branch’s cause and urged more support for his administration’s quest to offer free legal services to the poor and ensure timely access to justice.
The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Opeyemi Oke was ably represented by Justice Lawal Akapo at the presentation ceremony which took place at the High Court, Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu yesterday.
