Premium Times has just published a news articles confirming that they have received another letter from the University of Nigeria Nsukka over the certificate of the Minister for Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji .

The new letter now has the signature of the Senior Deputy Registrar purportedly signing on behalf of the Registrar.

Nigerians have questioned how the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ortuanya, will be the one responding and signing Freedom of Information requests about a former student even though he was copied.

During the press conference held yesterday, the Minister has also questioned  why the Vice Chancellor , a former commissioner will abandon his supposedly busy schedule to answer such a letter not meant for him in the ordinary course of his job as a Vice Chancellor.

Apparently, to save the VC from that blunder, the University has issued another one.

Of course, that does not cure some suspicion behind the Vice Chancellor ‘s intentions.
Premium Times has said that the request was dispatched by courier to UNN in Enugu State on 2nd of October, 2025 apparently from their office in Lagos and the Vice Chancellor also received , conducted the search for the credentials, responded and Premium Times received same day.

The speed of that delivery has shocked Nigerians.

Another question being asked is why is the Registrar not signing the letters especially at this critical time?

Nigerians have been largely divided over the incident with majority believing that the Minister is being treated unfairly.
The Minister had released the Graduation brochure of his class in UNN with people questioning how UNN got his name into the brochure since they claim he dropped out.

This case has generated alot of worries regarding the morality of appointing politically exposed people to head tertiary institutions.
