The Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch, led by Uchenna Akingbade held a protest today and condemned the unlawful actions of the Nigerian Navy in classifying , Vice Admiral Dada Olaniyi Labinjo (Rtd.), as a “deserter” in flagrant disregard of the judgment of the National Industrial Court.
The Military had labelled Labinjo a deserter even when Judgements of courts had already held to the contrary.
The protest was held to uphold the intergrity of the courts and challenge injustice by holding the Navy accountable.
“In light of the infringement of the fundamental rights of Vice Admiral Labinjo (Rtd.), the disregard for a subsisting Court judgment, and the grave danger this poses to our justice system and our nation, this protest has become necessary to spotlight this anomaly and seek immediate redress” declares NBA Lagos Chairman, Uchenna Ogunedo Akingbade.
