The Executive Committee of NBA Ikeja Branch met on Thursday, the 18th October 2018 to consider the proposed High Court of Lagos State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2018 with particular reference to the fallout of the recent Summit on the said 2018 proposed Civil Procedure Rules by the Lagos State Judiciary.

At the said Executive Committee Meeting, it was resolved that an ad-hoc committee be constituted to critically review the said proposed High Court Rules as it may affect the Bar and the inalienable right of the common man to access justice and make adequate recommendations to members at a General Meeting regarding our position.

Consequently, a 5 man committee to review the said proposed High Court of Lagos State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2018 (The Committee) is hereby constituted and the following senior and respected members of the branch are hereby appointed as members thereof:

  1. A. Olumide -Fusika (SAN) – Chairman
  2. Adewale Ademola Esq. – Secretary
  3. Babatunde Kehinde Esq. – Member
  4. Osahon Iheyen Esq. – Member
  5. Mathias Emeribe Esq. – Member.

Owing to the nature and urgency of this great task, the committee is enjoined to commence its meetings and deliberations immediately. The committee is to present  its report by  Thursday 25th October 2018 at an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting to be convened by the Executive Committee.

While we appeal for calm, we assure all members of the Excellent Branch that the Executive Committee will do all within its powers to represent the general interest of the Bar, our branch and the proverbial common -.man on this an all other issues.
