The NBA has released a statement condemning the terrorist attacks earlier this week in Yola and Mubi towns in Adamawa state through the President of the association.

The statement made available to the public through the General Secretary of the association reads:

Information reaching the Nigerian Bar Association confirmed the recent terrorists attack on Mubi and Yola towns in the North Eastern part of Nigeria. The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Paul Usoro, SAN called the Chairman of NBA Yola branch to express his condolences and prayers on behalf of members of the Nigerian Bar Association over the loss of lives and destruction of properties by the terrorists, particularly the destructive effects of such attacks on colleagues practising in Yola and Mubi.

The NBA President reiterates his call for the Federal Government of Nigeria to consider the protection of lives and properties of citizens and residents as it’s primary responsibility. He expressed grave concerns about the increasing spate of insecurity in many parts of Nigeria and calls for a more proactive and integrated action by the security agencies.

The NBA President, while commending the Nigerian military for it’s onslaught against terrorist activities in the North East, he also urged the Nigerian military and security agencies to be more proactive instead of being reactionary, and thereby causing avoidable loss of lives and properties.
