Moyosore Onigbanjo was today appointed the Attorney General of Lagos state by Governor Sanwo Olu of Lagos State
M.J Onigbanjo SAN is a first class litigator and in recognition of his excellence in this regard the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee, chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the Hon. Justice Aloma Mukhtar GCON conferred Moyosore with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria on 23rd September 2013.
M.J Onigbanjo SAN is a member of both the Nigerian and International Bar Association. As demonstrated by his notable appointments, He is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
In February 2013, M.J Onigbanjo SAN was appointed as a member of the NBA Lagos Branch Committee to make recommendations on the requirement of the Special Control Unit on Money Laundering (SCUML), the recommendations of this Committee were adopted whole scale by the NBA and forms the basis of the current litigation on the matter between the NBA vs Attorney General of the Federation.
In 2012, M.J Onigbanjo SAN was appointed as Co-Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch Law Dinner Committee 2012. In July of the same year, he was also appointed by the Nigerian Bar Association as a prosecutor of disciplinary matters before the Body of Benchers and the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee. (both of whom are statutory bodies)
In his over 24 years of practice, M.J Onigbanjo SAN has continuously offered Pro-Bono services for the less privileged and has successfully argued several criminal appeals in this regard.
In recognition of his wealth of experience in commercial law practice M.J Onigbanjo SAN was appointed as a Council Member of the Nigeria Bar Association’s Section on Business Law on 30th March 2011.
Prior to being appointed as a member of the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association in November 2010, M.J Onigbanjo SAN was on the 23rd of November 2010 appointed as a member of the Nigeria Bar Association’s Legislative Advocacy Working Group, a Group set up by the Nigeria Bar Association to liaise with, advice and make inputs into pending bills before the National Assembly.
M.J has vast and considerable court room experience in commercial litigation particularly in the areas of Debt Recovery, Breach and Enforcement of contracts, Companies Winding Up Proceedings, Aviation, Receivership, Marine claims, Arbitration and Oil and Gas. He has for the past twenty-three years participated extensively in commercial litigation in Nigeria.
With over 24years Court room experience, M.J Onigbanjo SAN has on numerous occasions argued several appeals at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Over 30 (Thirty) of these have been of such relevance that they been reported in Nigeria’s foremost law reports; The Nigeria Weekly Law Reports)
