Rachel Chibaya has Concluded a Two-Term Chairmanship at Women’s University of Africa.
In a valedictory statement obtained by Courtroom Mail, Rachel said
“It is with profound gratitude that I bid farewell to the Women’s University in Africa (WUA)Community after serving two fulfilling terms as Chairperson of the Council of the Women’s University in Africa. I wish to sincerely thank the University Founders Professor Hope Cynthia Sadza and Dr Fay Chung,the Board ledy by Dr Unesu Obatule , the Vice Chancellor Professor Sunungurai Dominica Chingarande , Management, and Council for the honor of entrusting me with this responsibility, and for celebrating my journey with such a memorable occasion.
Over the past eight years, we have worked together to strengthen this great institution.We have seen encouraging growth in student enrollment and, more importantly, we have upheld the vision, mission, and core values that make the Women’s University in Africa unique.These achievements are not mine alone, but the result of teamwork, shared commitment, and a deep belief in the transformative power of education.
On a personal note, this role has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my professional life.Serving Women’s University in Africa has given me the privilege not only to contribute to women’s empowerment and education but also to be inspired by the determination and excellence of our students,the very reason this University exists.
As we celebrate today’s graduation and the installation of our new Chancellor, I am reminded that leadership is a baton passed forward. With confidence in the incoming Council and the strength of stakeholders,I know the University will continue to scale even greater heights. It has been my honor to serve, and I will always remain a proud supporter and ambassador of the Women’s University in Africa.”
Rachel Chibaya joined the Women’s University in Africa in 2017 as a Council member, and was subsequently elected to the Chair in 2020. She had the distinct privilege of serving under the Chancellorship of Ghana’s current Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang,Ghana’s first female Vice President, sworn in on 7 January 2025 .
Throughout her tenure, Rachel has been a steadfast advocate for women’s empowerment, championing the advancement of women into leadership roles and inspiring others to break barriers.
