Presidential and National Assembly elections petition tribunal for Kogi State, which is supposed to sit in Lokoja, the state capital, has been relocated to Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
This was disclosed by the tribunal secretary, Mrs Aisha M’ohd, in a release, yesterday. The tribunal was yet to commence sitting or draw out any timetable to carry out its duties.
M’ohd, who didn’t reveal the specific FCT High Court where the sitting would be holding when the hearing begins, did not also state why the tribunal was relocated to Abuja. She, however, notified the police, Department of State Service, DSS; the media and the general public of the development, saying specific location of the court would be disclosed soon. She said: “Notice is hereby given to the police, Department of State Service, DSS, media and the general public that the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal slated to hold in Lokoja, Kogi State, has been relocated/moved to Federal Capital Territory High Court, FCT, Abuja.”
