Police in Homa Bay have arrested a 48-year-old man and his son for allegedly attacking and injuring a police officer.

The suspects, Mr Bonface Oremo and his son Mr Collins Oremo, 22, allegedly ambushed the officers and his colleagues at Ka Peter estate in the outskirts of Homa Bay town.

The officers had gone to arrest a suspect embroiled in a land dispute when the two suspects started hurling stones at them to prevent them from making an arrest.

The injured officer was struck on his jaw and is said to have lost several teeth.

Asego sub-location assistant chief Tom Ondiek said that the two suspects were arrested in different estates within Homa Bay town where they hid after the attack.

Homa Bay OCPD Sammy Koskey said the injured officer is receiving treatment and the two suspects will be arraigned on Monday.​
