Kenyan Lawyer Charles Kanjama has been elected as the 52nd president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) on February 19, 2026.

Kanjama defeated Peter Wanyama and former LSK Vice Chairperson Mwaura Kabata to win a highly contested seat.

About 18000 advocates registered in the election.
Charles Kanjama, commonly known as SC Charles Kanjama, is a prominent Kenyan constitutional lawyer and the Managing Partner at Muma & Kanjama Advocates.

With over 20 years of experience, Kanjama is a leading litigator specializing in dispute resolution, legal reforms, and public law, and is also a certified arbitrator and mediator.

He is a former chairman of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Nairobi Branch.

He earned his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Second Class Upper Division honours) from the University of Nairobi in 2001.

Following his undergraduate degree, he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law in 2002 and was admitted to the Bar in June 2003.

He made history as the inaugural elected Chairman of the LSK Nairobi Branch, serving between 2016 and 2020, where he was credited with operationalising the branch after the decentralisation of the Law Society.

In 2022, he was formally admitted to the Senior Counsel Bar, a prestigious rank reserved for the most distinguished advocates in Kenya and currently serves as the Secretary of this elite bar.
