Barely three weeks to the commencement of the enforcement of the open grazing prohibition law in Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom has inaugurated a special task force to effectively implement the law. Performing the inauguration yesterday in Makurdi, Governor Ortom urged members of the task force to always refer to the provisions of the law in the performance of their duties. Gov Samuel Ortom Ortom said: “You were all picked as members of the task force because you are professionals, traditional rulers and security-conscious people. Your selection, therefore, is not a coincidence but deliberate. “I urge you to use your wealth of experience, knowledge, foresight and contact to successfully perform this onerous task.” Ortom, who named his Security Adviser, Colonel Edwin Jando (retd.), as Chairman of the Task Force, said the group was made up of widely experienced personalities from security, traditional leadership and technocrats. …assures of security The governor, who assured people of the state of his administration’s commitment to their safety, peace and security said: “We will continue to do everything to ensure peaceful coexistence and the security of lives and property in Benue State.” Responding on behalf of members, Chairman of the Task Force, Jando, promised that his team will dispassionately discharge its responsibilities.
