In response to a social media blog alleging that Eastern Bar Forum(EBF) issued a statement advising Paul Usoro to bury his ambition,a senior member of EBF who spoke with Courtroom mail has denied that the EBF made any statement on the candidacy of Paul Usoro or even any other candidate.
According to him,EBF is not known to make such reckless statement that is likely to affect the Unity of the forum. He told Courtroom mail that the “Suicide vest threat” is rather unfortunate and portrays the narrow mindedness of the writer. “The Eastern Bar membership cuts across Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Enugu, Bayelsa, Ebonyi,Cross River,Imo ,River State and is very formidable.Paul Usoro is from the Zone and can aspire. Nobody, through any petty article or cheap threat can divide us”

He admitted that there are a lot of interpretations as to what section 2.2(d) really means but regardless of however anyone chooses to interpret it, the EBF will have a final say and for now the EBF has not made any official release on the election or any candidate.

According to the member who spoke anonymously since he is not the official mouth piece of EBF and will not like to be guilty of what he is criticising, any one in EBF can aspire to lead the Bar subject to Section 2.2(d) of the NBA Constitution.
He continued by saying that ,the EBF will take the appropriate position when the time comes. and enjoined all lawyers to disregard any comment disparaging any candidate until the EBF meets to take a decision on the issue.
