I have just received the sad news of the demise of Alhaji Aliyu Umar SAN, a former Attorney General of Kano State.
My condolences go to members of his family and to the members of the Kano, Ungogo and Dutse Branches of the Nigeran Bar Association.
Mr. Aliyu Umar (SAN) was Born on June 16, 1952. He served as Director, Public Prosecutions in the Ministry of Justice of Kano State between 1986 and 1988. He later served as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state between 2003 and 2011.

He was an influential and highly respected member of the Bar, not only in Kano and Jigawa States, but in the whole country.
His demise has left a gap that cannot be filled.
I pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and for his family, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
