Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Compliments.

In the wee hours of the 1st day of July, 2020, the ECNBA published what it termed “final voters list” containing over 39,000 names. The list is available at https://nigerianbar.org.ng/sites/default/files/inline-files/FINAL%20LIST.pdf

In the notice to which the list was attached, the ECNBA stressed the need for members to ensure that all their necessary and relevant data (particularly phone numbers, email addresses, postal and home address) are VERIFIED and updated on the NBA website. The procedure to access the portal is as follows.

(a) For members who have not been previously verified:

  1. Visit https://nigerianbar.org.ng/membership-portal
  2. Click on the Get Verified Option and do the following:
  • Enter your email address correctly and complete the verification form;
  • Upload a soft copy of your call to bar certificate;
  • Patiently wait for a confirmation email from the NBA, which will contain your Supreme Court enrolment number and a temporary password (that you can always change at your convenience).

3. Upon receiving a confirmation email from the NBA indicating that you have been successfully verified, do the following:

  • Go back to the NBA Membership Portal page;
  • Copy your enrolment number and password from the confirmation email and enter same on the portal as login details to avoid errors;
  • Ensure you type both the alphabets and figures of your Supreme Court Number together without space (E.G.: SCN111111).

(b) For members who have previously been verified but unable to log in:

  1. Visit https://nigerianbar.org.ng/membership-portal
  2. Click Forgot Password
  3. Enter Your Supreme Court Number and follow the instructions.

As we count down to the 29th of July, 2020, I urge us all to ensure that we do all that we can to exercise our franchise. Please, log in to the portal and review your details even if you did so earlier.

I have also heard complaints that some individuals found their names on the two previous lists but do not see their names on the current list. If you fall into this category, I urge you not to panic. Contact the NBA support at support@nigerianbar.org.ng or call the following phone numbers between 8 am and 8 pm every day of the week: 08165037594; 08168011579; 08165374194; 08167181605 with your details as they were on the previous list, including the serial number on the list. This also applies to all individuals who have issues with the verification process.

I have also set up a verification helpdesk to escalate complaints to the ECNBA, where necessary. You may reach the helpdesk at 07037690253; 08067310024, 08069003788, 08066444001, or support@babatundeajibade.com.

Kindly, also inform colleagues around us to ensure that we are all qualified.

Finally and as I had indicated in my last message, let us remember that we are one Bar. We must treat our colleagues with dignity and respect even when we are tempted to do otherwise. Let us be as cordial and friendly as we can in relating with all colleagues because in the end, we are one and we can only stand if we are united.

Thank you for your efforts so far.

Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN FCIArb
