A Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate’s Court headed by Chief Magistrate D. D. Ihua-Maduenyi, on Tuesday evening ordered the remand of 10 passengers, who flew into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base, Port Harcourt, to be remanded in a government facility.
The passengers, who were on board the Twin-Otter helicopter belonging to Caverton Helicopters, were arrested by the police for contravening paragraph 8 of the Executive Order of the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
The defendants, who pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge preferred against them by the state were ordered to be remanded at any government facility to enable medical personnel from the state carry out test to determine their coronavirus (COVID-19) status.
Earlier that same day, the court had remanded the pilot and co-pilot of the helicopter, Samuel Ugorji and Samuel Buhari, in prison custody for the illegal flight.
