The African Women Lawyers Association ( AWLA) will hold the 2022 annual parley on Tuesday 23rd of August 2022 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs.

The first Lady of Lagos State, Ibijoke Sanwo- Olu will be the host while the first Lady of Edo State Betsy Obaseki will be the special guest of honour.
The Chairperson of Nigerian Diaspora Commission,Abike Dabiri- Erewa will deliver the key note address.
Abimbola Akinjide SAN will the the Chair person of the parley.

Anthony Atata will speak on the 35% Affirmative Action for women while Mrs Olusola Sowemimo will speak on Barriers to growing Women owned Businesses.

The theme of the parley is “Sustainable Development for Women- Catalyst for growth of a Nation”

35% of Affirmative Action is a recommendation of Nigerian Gender Policy and an outcome of various international recommendations and policies.

Anthony Atata has been involved in various gender projects . He is the promoter of Courtroom Mail 100 which aims to promote outstanding female lawyers across the African Continent. He was also involved in the International Bar Association study on sexual harassment and bullying in the legal profession.
He serves in the board of Lady Lawyers Re-engaged, an association of female Lawyers who left law practice as a result of family commitments seeking to return to the practice of Law.

The event is slated for 11am.
