The body of Nigerian  Bar Association ( NBA) Branch Chairmen in Abia State   met and issued a communique  on the unfortunate  state of the Judiciary  in Abia State.

The Chairmen of  NBA branches in Aba, Umuahia, Isialangwa,Ohafia and Ukwa in a statement  dated 9th of January 2025 made available  to Courtroom  Mail expressed a grave concern over the intermittent  closure of courts in Abia State as a result of industrial  actions by workers of the Judiciary.

The statement  issued said that the strike was as a result of the failure  of Abia State government  to comply with the Memorandum  of understand reached with Judiciary  Staff Union of Nigeria( JUSUN)  in Abia State.

The statement  stated that the action has disrupted the administration  of justice especially Criminal  Justice administration.

The communique also stated that a stakeholders meeting will be convened to resolve the impasse in the appointment  of Judges in Abia State.

It called on Abia State Judicial  service commission to release the result of the aptitude test aimed at appointing the Chairmen of Customary courts in the State and resolved  to implement  the Legal Practitioners renumeration order 2023.
