A Reply Letter to Dennis Osaretin Esq.

By :Douglas Ogbankwa Esq.

Dear Dennis Osaretin ,

I was moved to tears by the ecomiums you poured on me ,in the furore of my stepping down in the Elections into the Office of the Secretary of NBA Benin Branch-the Lion Bar ,in order for me to face other aspects of my work life ,principally my Legal Practice .

I am indeed grateful for your kind words!

You made references to your being a mentor which I concur to and even more.

As a writer myself ,I am marveled by the way you strand your words together, with impeccable diction and flawless mechanical accuracy.

And so Dennis ,I am not in doubt as to your preparation for your next assignment at the Lion Bar .

I have watched you from your school Days and 6 things stand you out :

1.Your ethics of conforming to the established Dress Code of Lawyers and the attendant charisma with which you carry yourself .

2.Your mastery of the Language of Law and governance with such flawlessness that will even make Justice Chukudifu Oputa (JSC),smile in his grave ,knowing we have behind us capable hands that will keep up with out time honoured Tradition. Lord Denning Stated thus “Just like the hammer and nails are the tools of the carpenter ,language is the tool of a Lawyer “.

3.Your boldness to speak truth to power and not to pander to the vagaries of sycophancy , that is the bane our Society.

4.Your Media Visibility on raging State issues, both on mainstream and social media which depicts you as an eclectic Assistant Secretary of the Lion Bar ,who knows his onions

5.The raw passion with you carry out assignments given to you at the Bar.You have distinguished yourself in the office you currently occupy, bringing the Office to the fore and prominent relevance, for the very first time in the history of the Benin Bar .

6.The sequence and fluidity of your writing, which is a delight to read ,not a surprise ,because you are the former Edo State Legal Adviser of the Association of Nigerian Author (ANA).Your public speaking is also a delight to the ears.
It was Francis Bacon that said :”Reading makes a man ,writing makes a prepared man, while conference or speaking makes a complete man “.

You are a QUINTESSENTIAL Bar Man and an aspiring Statesman, with no mean repute. It was the American Political Philosopher:James Freeman Clarke that said :

“A politician thinks of the next election; a statement of the next generation. A politician looks for the success of his party; a statesman for that of his country. The statesman wishes to steer, while the politician is satisfied to drift.”

With these and more ,you are fully prepared for your next task and I wish you the best .

Viva the Lion Bar .
