Tragedy struck, Monday, when a Director in the Lagos State Ministry of Youths, Mr. Oludare Buraimoh’s lifeless body was found dangling from the ceiling in his apartment in Ogun State. According to a source, Buraimoh, who lived in Unity Estate, Phase II, Gbonagun, Abeokuta, Ogun State, allegedly took his life after having a brief discussion with his son, Dotun, who was said to be ill. Apparently, in shock, many sympathisers, yesterday, thronged the residence of the deceased to commiserate with the bereaved family over the tragic death of their breadwinner. At press time, several attempts to speak with spokesperson of Lagos State Government for comments over the incident were unsuccessful. According to Dotun, the incident occurred at about 4p.m, after he complained about malaria symptoms to his father. He said: “We were both at home. He came to give me some drugs and left. I thought he was going to retire to his room. But when I did not hear his voice, I called him. There was no response. “I, thereafter, went to his room only to find him hanging from the ceiling on a traditional Aso Oke tied round his neck. I then alerted the neighbours, who, in turn, told me to alert the Police, which I did.” His widow, said: “I don’t know what came over him; it is inexplicable. We have been surviving through thick and thin and now that we ought to sit down and enjoy, after all the years of toiling, he decided to take his own life. “He did not show any sign of depression at the time he committed suicide. He was in high spirits; what led him to this remains a riddle.” Deputy Superintendent of Police Rasheed Olaleye of the Obantoko Police Station confirmed the incident, but declined to give further comments, saying the Divisional Police Officer was in the best position to respond to all inquiries concerning the case.
