Breaking News- Olakunle Afolabi wins the 2018 Justice Ayo Philips Courtroom Mail Prize for Young Lawyers

Courtroom Mail is  happy to inform you that the winners of the 2018 Justice Ayo Philips Courtroom Mail Prize for young Lawyers have emerged. Olakunle Afolabi emerged as the winner with two others in the finals of the competition that took place this morning. 72 Young Lawyers registered for the competition and 13 made it to the finals.

Three questions below were posted for the 13 finalists to answer  .

1.In criminal cases, evidence of good character of the defendant is admissible- True or False?- THE ANSWER IS TRUE see section 81 of the Evidence Act

2.An Auditor of a company is entitled to a notice of a general meeting- True or False? THE ANSWER IS TRUE see section 219 of The Companies and Allied Matters Act

3. A person who is 65 years at the time of appointment of a director of a public company has a duty to disclose his/her age to members of the company at a general meeting- True or False?
THE ANSWER IS FALSE-THE ANSWER IS FALSE.It is actually 70 years.
In view of the above,the following were the first to answer the three questions correctly.

The winner will have a one year exclusive subscription of Supreme court reports by Lawbreed while the second and third will have a full year basic subscription of the same law report.
