Festus Keyamo has once again lost out in the bid to become a senior Advocate of Nigeria.However,lawyers in Lagos state especially in the Lagos branch of Nigerian Bar association erupted in jubilation as The Legal Practitioners Privileges committee published the names of awardees of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria for the year 2016 which includes the name of Chijioke Okoli,the charismatic past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos.
It has been a turbulent rise to the inner bar since 2009 when Mr Okoli started applying for the prestigious title. Another, reputable lawyer in Lagos, Mr Richard Akintunde, who has served in the election committee of the Nigerian Bar Association in Lagos made the list. The Director General of the Nigerian Law school , Mr Olanrewaju Onadeko made the list too. The swearing in will hold on the 19th of September 2016 a date which will conflict with the IBA conference in Washignton DC an expensive event many Nigerian Lawyers are expected to attend including some of the awardees.
