Today in history,1886,Ohio passes a statute that makes seduction unlawful. Covering all men over the age of 18 who worked as teachers or instructors of women, this law even prohibited men from having consensual sex with women (of any age) whom they were instructing. London firm shut down over dishonesty suspicions

The Solicitors Regulation Authority today shut down a London firm over suspicions of dishonesty involving the two managers. Regulators intervened into Malik Law Chambers, which has offices in east and west London as well as Birmingham, after also expressing concerns the firm had failed to comply with SRA principles. Buhari pays tribute to Gani Fawehinmi on 80th posthumous birthday

President Muhammadu Buhari has paid tribute to Nigeria’s foremost social critic and selfless legal luminary, Chief Abdul Ganiyu ‘‘Gani’’ Fawehinmi, SAN, on his posthumous 80th birthday, describing the late legal icon ‘‘as a true conscience of the nation, defender of democracy and people’s rights advocate’’. In a statement signed by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, the President said as the world posthumously marks the 80th birthday of Chief Fawehinmi (22 April 1938 – 5 September 2009), that he (Buhari) fondly remembers the legendary patriot for his altruistic services to the nation, which continue to be sorely missed. I have heard people speak about Paul Usoro SAN as regards his passion to develop the legal profession through sponsorship of different capacity programmes, some of which challenge the legal mind, and others are sporting activities which not only challenge the mind and body, but create relaxation and promote friendship amongst lawyers.
